I grew up in a tiny town in northeast Missouri, a relic of bygone days. I learned there how to be self sufficient; to find and make everything I needed, from foraging wild food to building my own house. Most of my skills I learned from people around me who had been doing it for decades using vintage materials and techniques.
After moving away I met many new people and ideas that reflect the lessons I was taught back home. Most of these have new names, but it is reassuring to see familiar notions across all these miles.
I feel very lucky that in such a short time as I have lived I have learned and shared so much with the people I love. I hope to have many more years to enjoy, in ever different places and cultures!
